Tamworth is a city in the New England region of New South Wales. Tamworth is nationally famous as the "Country Music Capital of Australia", annually hosting the Tamworth Country Music Festival in late January; the second biggest country music festival in the world.

At any time of the year, you can walk the Heritage Trail and uncover Tamworth's historic buildings or boot-scoot through the Hands of Fame Park, which contains the handprints of about 200 country music stars. The mighty 12-metre-high Golden Guitar in town is a highlight for most visitors.

The city centre is located north of the Peel River. It is primarily a business area of Tamworth, with many shops, restaurants, car dealerships, as well as shopping centres and public facilities.

Popular places to visit are the Tamworth Regional Gallery, The Walk a Country Mile Museum and the Big Golden Guitar Tourist Centre.
