General Information about Grafton

The city of Grafton is the commercial hub of the Clarence River Valley. Established in 1851, Grafton features many historic buildings. Grafton is also known as the 'Jacaranda City', in reference to its tree-lined streets and annual Jacaranda Festival, held in October/November. It is also well known for the Grafton Cup horse race, held yearly on the second Thursday in July.

There are 24 parks in Grafton with more than 6,500 trees. Just east of Grafton, Yuraygir National Park is a sensational strip of coast teeming with wildlife. It also boasts pristine beaches, high dunes, paperbark lagoons, freshwater creeks that spill into the sea and some of the best coastal walking tracks in the State.

Popular places to visit are the Clarence River or attending the Grafton Bridge to Bridge Ski classic.
